Although the idea of building business systems might sound boring, I’ve realized that it’s the key to freeing yourself from work.
With all of those extra hours you can bum around town, take language lessons and generally be out in world and away from your screen.
These 10 tools will help you own your time and rock your life as a digital nomad.
Eliminate Emails
You heard that right! Tired of trading a thousand and one emails every hour with various people? Try out Trello.
It’s a free project management tool that allows you to collaborate, share tasks and numerous other features. Get out of the inbox and easily track everything in one place on Trello.
Own Your Time
Scheduling calls, podcast interviews or anything else can get overwhelming.
To avoid confusion and schedule conflicts check out Schedule Once.
Schedule Once allows you to set up an account, pre-set your calendar for when you are available, then send people a unique link that allows them to select a time to chat with you.
Now, people can only book time with you when you make yourself available. It will even automatically add each request to your google calendar. What’s that we hear? Oh, it’s the sweet sound of efficiency.
And speaking of google…
Google Drive/Docs/Calendar
The number of ways you can use google is astounding. Just grab yourself a free gmail address then start sharing docs that update in real time, create surveys, store files and much more. Google’s business uses are limitless.
Just get f.lux
Ok, this one is for mac only, but if you work on a computer in the evening or nighttime (and who does’t?) this is a lifesaver.
F.lux will automatically dim your screen as the sun goes down, and it is so much easier on your eyes you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. Multiple settings and customization options means screen perfection.
Dropbox
Backup and real time sharing of key files. For large files it really comes in handy. I use it to drop my podcast files in to be mixed, share documents that help people live their dream lifestyle and more! Without dropbox I’d be lost. Free up to 2 GB’s.
Staying in Touch – Relationship Management
Contactually has been a great resource lately, helping me follow up with people at the right time to keep important relationships strong. I am just getting our feet wet with this service but so far it’s super impressive.
Buffer
You’re surfing the net, find something you want to share on social media then completely forget about it later. How can you possibly keep track of it all? With buffer you can! Add something you’re reading into your social media queue, schedule posts or keep your content stacked for later use. It’s awesome.
Freedom
Does the Internet ever distract you? Of course it does! The Freedom app blocks you from the internet for a period of time so you can get your work done. Yes, it’s self inflicted pain, but it gets the job done.
Pic Monkey
Resizing pictures for your blog can be a total pain if you aren’t a photoshop whiz. Head to pic monkey and easily tweak those images.
Creative Commons
Pulling a random image off the internet to use on your website is a huge no no. Head to creative commons to find images you can use for commercial purposes. Don’t forget to credit the photographer with a link back to the image on Creative Commons, just like I did at the top of this article:)
